Laundry & white wine

…is about as exciting as tonight’s gonna get! Had a really good couple of days at work; yesterday morning I had my store approval at Topshop (which means I can work at the concession if needs be, and just keep an eye on how it’s doing etc.), then we spent the rest of the day shooting in and around the showroom which was lots of fun. Our model was amazing, and I don’t think I’ve ever consumed so much tea and cake in one day! Afterwards I met Laura in The Clapton Hart for a couple of pints and a catch up- she’s just been offered a new job working in display advertising for The Fly magazine!! Today was very busy, and afterwards we all went for dinner at a Korean restaurant in Soho as designer Holly is going to China tomorrow for a couple of months, to do some work in the factories.

I’m pretty shattered now, but I cannot wait for the long weekend to begin! Tomorrow I think I’m going to Field Day with a random assortment of people, and heading out afterwards (probably to the Dolphin, hahaha). Sunday I’m off to a warehouse party in Shoreditch with Tom and Sween, and on Monday we’re all congregating (probably in varying degrees of messiness) at The Britannia in Victoria Park for an afternoon of pub food and pints. If I have any energy left on Tuesday I might do something with Paddy, but we shall see. Hope everyone’s looking forward to a few days of partying! x

‘Patti, nobody sees as we do.’

I just finished reading ‘Just Kids’ by Patti Smith. I’m not even going to bother reviewing it in any way, shape or form; all I’ll say is that it’s one of the most beautiful, soulful and inspiring things I’ve ever read. Having studied Robert Mapplethorpe throughout university and having listened to Patti Smith from a fairly young age, it was an absolute joy to have access to such an intimate piece of work. I’m itching to read it again already.

Today I made the most of the last day of sunshine in my tie-dye maxi skirt from a charity shop teamed with a white vest and Urban Outfitters pendant.

Today at work Holly (the designer and founder of Miss Patina) and I went down to The Laden Showroom on Brick Lane to deliver some new stock, after which we strolled through sunny Spitalfields and had a delicious Thai lunch at Rosa’s on Hanbury Street. V. much enjoying being a working girl so far!

Today I embraced the 27 degree heat in one of my favourite, easy, summer outfits- a vintage playsuit from the East End Thrift Store with a vintage snakeskin belt and Topshop sandals. (Apologies for not taking a new photo, this one is from last summer!)

Today was a good day. As well as indulging in the Starbucks Happy Hour (strawberries & cream frappuccino for me) with Sarah and Anne at the showroom, Emily then rings to tell me she’s only gone and bloody won tickets to see Alt-j play a very special one-off show in London! I know I’ll be able to catch up with them/see them play at In The Woods, but I’m still super excited about this gig in June. Incidentally, their debut album ‘An Awesome Wave’ is officially released today, and I just cannot put into words how heartbreakingly wonderful it is. I remember when Gus and I met for coffee in Ely a few years ago and he gave me their very first demo (when they were still known as Daljit Dhaliwal), and now to see the album finally released, to see the last 3 or 4 years of hard work come to fruition, is just amazing. They thoroughly deserve every accolade, every rave review, every radio play that they’re receiving; I had honestly forgotten how it felt to be this excited and moved by a band, and I can only recommend that you begin (if you haven’t already) to discover the magic of ∆ for yourselves.

Our hair bows! Amazing, non? No idea how she did it…

Kat arrived at the park yesterday with her hair in an amazing Gaga-style bow, so naturally I asked her to do the same to mine!
